Lunigiana is the richest Italian territory for indigenous vines. For centuries it has been a land of passage of people and goods (Via Francigena, Via del Sale, etc.) And perhaps this added to the wine heritage. The lunigianesi varieties are being studied by the University of Pisa with the contribution of many vintners. We mention the names of some varieties: Vermentino black, pollera, marinello, groppello, Durella, albarola, uslina, lugliesa, bracciola, Barsaglina calorie luagda, pinzamosca, Verdella, etc. white lizard. Unfortunately, over the years, in the face of this rich natural heritage, it has lost the tradition and experience of ancient wine growers, especially in the interior valleys. But this territory, now as then, offers excellent conditions for growing grapes. Formerly the Taverone River was certainly very impetuous, judging by what's left of his bed: a deep deposit of rocks, mud and minerals. Now the stream has carved a deep valley over thirty meters, cutting into the rock and isolating a small plateau. On the edge of this "natural step" you will find our vineyard. The proximity of the river and the orientation of the valley towards the sea create a very special microclimate: days very warm, bright and cold and dry nights characterize the grape ripening period. We maintain biodiversity: the vineyard is made up of nine varieties of grapes with spontaneous grassing, surrounded by hedges of native shrubs, olive trees, woods and chestnut. But the most important thing is the soil: disease resistance and quality of grapes depends on the roots. The vitality of the soil is maintained and increased with the use of compost, they are neither used nor fertilizers nor herbicides. We work all day in the vineyard, and want it to be a healthy and natural environment, why we grow organically.
