The 2014 vintage has been characterized by a complex climate. The winter was warm and the spring and summer saw a lot of rain and below average temperatures.
These conditions caused a late phenolic maturation of the grapes. Consequently, much work was required in the vineyard, particularly green pruning and treatments, to enable the bunches to breath and thus to prevent attack by mould and ensure optimum ripening.
We did a highly selective manual harvest and a second selection on the “table de tri” in the winery to maintain a high-quality level.
There was a 5-day maceration with more than usual remontage. After pressing the fermentation was completed. Despite our concerns about climate, we are now satisfied that we have obtained an elegant, balanced wine with vivid color.
The vinification (with daily pumping) was made in thermo- controlled stainless steel for 4-5 days. The wine was then aged in French oak barrels from 50 to 30 hl for 12 months and was bottled in July 2016
